Description: The Adirondacks is a state park in Upstate New York that encompasses 6 million acres (larger than any National Park). The park contains a Forest Preserve that encompasses 2.6 million acres. The other 3.4 million acres are privately owned land that is regulated by the Adirondack Park Agency.
Description: The firestorm that erupted in San Diego County in the fall of 2007 devastated the area. This firestorm is considered to be the second most destructive fire in the history of the county, just after the Cedar Fire of 2003. High heat, low humidity, Santa Ana winds with gusts up to 100 mph, and other conditions provided optimal conditions for the wildfires to thrive.
Description: Namibia is known for its arid climate and the flora and fauna that have adapted to these conditions over many generations. The livelihoods of most people depend directly on the land. Therefore, a large portion of Namibia is used for agriculture, natural resource extraction, and tourism. The country mainly exports raw materials and imports most of its goods and services.
