Water Marks/Inside
Description:
Water Marks/Inside July 12 - August 9, 2003 Artists have had a timeless attraction to water's evocative properties. Water's expansiveness and formlessness - its capacity to change, modify, and circulate - have inspired a surprising range of aesthetic responses in different media. Water Marks/Inside features the work of six contemporary artists who investigate and navigate water's prosaic and poetic dimensions, causing us to reconsider our own experiences and associations with this ubiquitous, mysterious constituent of all living matter. Heide Fasnacht - Karen Shaw - Arlene Shechet - Hope Sandrow - Allan Wexler - Frances Whitehead - Patricia Phillips, Curator Sunday, July 27, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Artist's reception and beginning of the week-long LandEscapes Symposium Front: Selat Flores, Indonesia, Panel II, 2001. "We are touched by what we touch. We are shaped by what we shape. We are enhanced by what we enhance." The Great Work -- Thomas Berry Sculpture invites us to more fully engage with our environment. It helps focus our attention on nature's materials and forms. Sculpture has presence and enlivens a setting.
