Mount Desert House taken from across road; two black horses with carriage in front of house, one man seated in carriage. Crowd of people out front; woman and man in doorway, woman and two children standing on steps, three men standing and one seated. Large flag pole to left with "Mount Desert House 1888" sign on it. Picket fence running along right side of lawn, most shutters are open except for two windows in middle nearest chimney. This print has been attributed to W.H. Ballard, but the photo. is probably too early for Ballard to have taken it. Also known as Mount Desert Tavern. [show more]
